1880 kehrte Panayioti Kastrisios “FAVAS” aus Smyrna nach  Kythera zurück, wo er sich in seinem Familienhaus in Mitata niederließ. Im Laufe der Jahre erweiterte er dieses um ein Café und eine Ölpresse. 2005 entschieden sich die aktuelle Besitzerin, Eleni, Favas Groß-Groß-Enkelin und ihr Partner Kosta, das Anwesen zu restaurieren, wobei sie sorgsam darauf achteten, seinen authentischen Charakter zu bewahren und sicherzustellen, dass die Spuren der Zeit nicht entfernt wurden. Favas Ölpresse wurde vollständig restauriert und ist ein außergewöhnliches Beispiel für die Ölpresstechnik vor der Einführung der Maschinentechnik. Das Haus ermöglicht einmalige und authentische Einblicke in das Dorfleben vor 100 Jahren.
