Los ingleses durante su permanencia en Citera construyeron muchas escuelas y obligaron a los citeranos que enviaran a sus hijos a ellas. Los que no enviaban a sus hijos a las escuelas inglesas –para que recibieran una educación inglesa- se veían obligados a pagar impuestos y trabajar en las obras públicas. La escuela de Milapidea está situada en un lugar destacado sobre Livadi y es una muestra representativa del estilo arquitectónico que aplicaron los ingleses en la isla. Se conserva en muy buen estado, como otras escuelas inglesas también.
