La colección de folklore de Kythera proviene de una donación del profesor Dimitris Lourandos (antiguo director del equipo de trabajo personal de la escuela primaria), quien durante muchos años coleccionó junto a sus estudiantes estos objetos que ahora forman parte de su colección personal. Estos artefactos son un testimonio de la vida cotidiana de la isla en el pasado. Hoy, la colección se expone en el antiguo ayuntamiento, al lado de la policía, en Chora.
