Agios Petros

Agios Petros

The church is located in the village of Araioi. It is a cruciform church, with no narthex. It has a threefold sanctum with half-cylindrical arches. The octagonal dome and the winged altarpiece were built later. It is dated to the 11th or 12th century, built by craftsmen from Monemvasia. Its architectural design is similar to that of the Agia Varvara church in Paliochora.

Frescos

There are two Byzantine frescos dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries as well as post-Byzantine frescos of the 16th and 19th centuries. The arch fresco depicts Saint Peter blessing and holding a scroll.
