Beaches of Kythera
Kythera has more than forty large, small and very small beaches. More than half of the beaches are accessible by road, while in the rest you need a boat to reach by sea. Perhaps access by land, through canyons, or paths will enable you to visit them.
The most famous beach on the island is Kaladi on the east coast. It is the beach that has been photographed by its visitors more than any other. Diakofti, which hosts the harbor of the island, has a beach with the shallow waters and fine white sand and attracts all families as it is ideal for children. For the dips from the rocks, you will enjoy their beautiful copper color. Kapsali has the most cosmopolitan beach and is friendly to people with disabilities, as it has a special ramp to enter the water.
All beaches have their own peculiarity, many get motivated visitors on a daily basis, depending on their preferences. The Limni of Palaiopoli has been established for many years as the beach for nudism. Visitors can also visit the beach of Sparargario opposite Kapsali. Unique beaches, ideal for overnight stays are Routsouna and Agios Nikolas at the northern end of the island. As you explore the island, you will discover the beaches that suit your preferences. Try a new choice every day. You will not regret it.
Blue flag
Selected beaches carry the Blue Flag, an international certification that ensures the quality and cleanliness of the water, as well as high-level services on the coast.
Instructions for Bathers
The sea is a pleasure for our summer baths but requires careful attention to avoid unpleasant results. Make sure you do not leave the coast. The danger of sea currents is great. Take protective measures for ultraviolet radiation, wearing hats, sunglasses and sunscreen creams.
We wish you good diving on the beaches of Kythera.
